Share a "cuppa" with a new IFQ friend!

This is a great way to meet other IFQ members. You CAN share a cuppa tea (or coffee) together, even if you ARE on different sides of the world. If you're new to IFQ, what a great way to meet a veteran member who can "show you the ropes"! It's amazing how small the world is to IFQ members!

In this event, IFQ members send each other a square of fabric that their partner makes into a lovely coaster and sends back. You then make a date with your new IFQ friend to meet in the chat room and share a virtual "cuppa tea (or coffee)"!

You can only sign up for one partner at a time. Once your partner has received your finished coaster, AND HAS POSTED THIS IN THE FORUM, your name will be taken off the active list and you can sign up again. So it's important to post in the IFQ TEA FOR TWO FORUM every time you send or receive an idea.

Here's how it works:

  1. Sign up and verify your snail mail address. Within a few days of signing up, you will be paired with another IFQ member and receive an email with your partner's information. At this point, a link at the top of the page will become visible to you. If you should lose your email, you can always use the link to get your partner's information.Coaster 1

  2. Make a 5-inch block (which will eventually be trimmed to a 4-inch block). Remember, this should be a "blank canvas" without embellishment so your partner can have lots of creative fun! A simple block, a diamond in a square, a 4 patch all work well.

  3. Send the block to your swap partner and she will send you her block, too. By this time, you will have been in touch and gotten to know a bit about each other so you can make a special coaster just for her.

  4. Add embellishment of your choice, such as applique or embroidery, on top of the block you received. Remember, this needs to work as a coaster.

  5. Sandwich the block, quilt it and then trim to 4-1/4 inch square.

  6. Finish the block by binding it, sign the back including your name and country and any other message, and take a picture to post on the web site.

  7. Send the finished coaster back to your partner.

  8. Set a date to share a mug of coffee or tea together and have a chat in the ol' Diamond Lounge, IFQ's Chat room. And don't forget to post a picture in the IFQ Tea for Two picture gallery!

Isn't this a great way to make a new friend? AND while you're making LOTS of new friends, you're also collecting a great set of coasters from all around the world!
