If you enjoyed the IFQ Pin Pals Exchange, you're going to LOVE this IFQ Needle Pals Exchange! Tina Girard, UK-Threads of Time FQ deputy leader, suggested this great new event. Thanks, Tina!
Like the pincushions, you can never have too many needlecases and we quilters have many needles for many uses, from basic sewing to quilting, embroidery, beading, etc.
After you sign up for the IFQ Needle Pals Exchange, you will make a needle case to send to your exchange partner. Go wild and use your imagination to make any kind of needle case you like. It can be for hand needles or machine needles. Make it modern and clean-lined, or covered with embellishments.. it's up to you! Your needlecase can be of any size, shape, or design. You can use any technique you like including patchwork, appliqué, canvas work, etc. They can be embellished with buttons, beads, sequins or whatever you have in your stash boxes. The only rules are you must make it and, like the pincushions, you must sign and date it. When your needlecase is complete you will post a picture of it in the Needle Pals Gallery.
Once the picture posting deadline is reached, the exchange partners will be revealed. Only those who have posted a picture in the gallery will be assigned a partner. Find your partner's name and mail your needle case off. You will receive one in the mail from another participant. From where in the whole, wide world will your needle case come? Could be from just about anywhere!
Tina, your hostess with the mostest, has kindly gathered some needlecase examples to spark your imaginations! Click here to see what she's found.
Sign Ups open April 12, 2006. You must be an IFQ member and logged in to register. You are committing to make one needle case for each time you sign up. If you would like to make more than one needlecase, you may sign up more than once.
Sign Ups close May 3, 2006. This is the absolute last day to enter this event.
Picture Posting Deadline is May 17, 2006. You must post a picture of each of your finished needlecases no later than this date to be assigned an exchange partner.
Mailing Deadline is May 24, 2006. This is the last day to put your needlecases in the mail to your exchange partner. Once you have mailed off your needlecases, please post a note to that effect in the Needle Pals Forum.
Contact Tina with any questions.
She'll be happy to help!
