Tine Damsgaard-Sorensen has come to us with the great new event idea! In this event you'll not only have the fun of learning a new block and exchanging with your IFQ friends, but THEN you'll also be able to download a fabulous tote bag pattern to make with your MENDED HEARTS blocks! Thanks Tine, for a such a great idea!

Here's how it works. After you have signed up, be sure that you return to this page where you will find a link for downloading the MENDED HEARTS block pattern. When making this nifty block, you will end up with TWO mirror imaged blocks. One is for you and one you send to your assigned partner. Once you have received the block your partner has made for you, you will have TWO blocks - your original block and the block from your IFQ friend. You will use these two blocks to make your MENDED HEARTS TOTE BAG. (The fun never stops with this event!)

The pattern is a snap to follow. You make two blocks with hearts on different backgrounds (making sure the hearts fall in the same place on each block). Next, you layer them and carefully cut them. Then just sew them back together again and you've got two mirror image blocks.

You MUST post a picture of your blocks by the picture posting deadline in order to be assigned a partner. This deadline is absolute. If you have any difficulty with posting your picture, your hosts for this event will be happy to help you - but be sure NOT to leave it to the last minute. Our hosts are busy people!

Once the picture posting deadline has passed, the hosts will assign partners - looking at the blocks and choosing partners with complementary blocks. After the partners have been assigned, you'll find the link at the top of this page that will take you to your partner's mailing address. Be sure to check the forum for notification when the link is up.

The IFQ Mended Hearts Forum is a good place to check frequently. Here you can find the latest event news as well as answers to any questions you might have. It's a great place to exchange ideas too! Tine and Tina monitor the forum often and are happy to help you. You'll find helpful tips here too from other members.

Please respect the mailing deadline for this event and get your block in the mail BEFORE or on this date AT THE LATEST. It's not fair to make your partner wait! After the mailing deadline passes and if your partner has reported the receipt of your block, you'll be given the pattern for the fantastic Mended Hearts Tote Bag! This pattern uses both the block that you received from your partner and your original block. It's a very handy bag so you'll be reminded of your wonderful IFQ friend every time you use it! The sooner you mail your blocks and they are received, the sooner you can access this pattern.

Be sure to post a picture of your finished tote bag too! It will be fun to see all the different bags that result from this event! And once you've made one, we'll bet you're going to want to make many more! What a perfect gift for a friend!
