IFQ Patchwork Follies

Nathalie Cambier, Chapter Leader of the FR - Folie du Patchwork FQ, brings us this fun patchwork event! If you love fabric and you love making quilts, then this IFQ event is for you! You'll swap for new fabric and then download a special pattern that Nathalie has designed for this event to make a wonderful quilt. This project also highlights the importance of fabric tones.

After the sign ups end, members will be divided into teams of 4 and given the postal information for the team member that they will send to. Each participant will send to the SAME member of their team each round. At the start of the event, each member prepares an envelope and sends it.

Twenty four 8" X 7" rectangles will always be in each envelope - consisiting of 8 light fabrics, 8 medium fabrics and 8 dark fabrics.

Here is a breakdown of the path of one envelope.

Here are some other points to remember:

Prepare 3 envelopes right from the first and mark them #1, #2 and #3.

ALWAYS fill out the STATUS SHEET. The status sheet will let everyone know what round you are on and how many you should pull out. You can click here to open the status sheet in a separate window.

Post in the IFQ Patchwork Follies event Forum when you mail an envelope and when you receive one.

Please make sure that you are contributing good quality, 100% cotton fabric. You should send the kind of fabric YOU would like to receive.

Please PRE-WASH and iron the fabric before cutting and sending.

Please remember when swapping out the fabric, to replace what you've taken with a similar tone fabric. The final envelope should have 8 light, 8 medium and 8 dark fabric rectangles.

You will always be sending to the SAME person on your team.

These envelopes should weight approximately 125 grams or just under 4.5 ounces which should make the postal rate low! When IFQ checked the cost of a 4.5 ounce envelope going from our local post office in California to a post office in North Carolina (across the country), we were given a cost of $1.35. Be sure to check your own post office!
